December 9, 2012 – PORTLAND, ORE.<\/strong> Write down everything and something is bound to be funny. Or at least that\u2019s standup comedian Tim\u2019s philosophy in\u00a0International Falls<\/em> by Thomas Ward<\/strong>. CoHo Productions, as part of the Fertile Ground Festival, will produce the World Premiere. A pay-what-you-will\u00a0preview performance will be held on January 24th<\/strong>, with opening night on January 25th. The hilarious new show will run Thursday through Sunday through\u00a0February 16th<\/strong>. Tickets start at $20 with discounts available for students, educators and seniors. Those with a valid International Falls, MN driver\u2019s license will receive free admission (pending availability).
\nIn the depths of winter, Tim and Dee find themselves\u00a0together in a small motel room after Tim\u2019s side-splitting
\nstand-up comedy performance. A philosophical\u00a0discussion of comic theory, marriage, parenthood, and a few bodily function jokes blurs the line\u00a0between comedy and tragedy as both are forced to ask, \u201cNow what?\u201d Playwright Thomas\u00a0Ward<\/strong> (a Professor at Baylor University and former stand-up comic) has carefully crafted the\u00a0beginning of one journey and the end of another as the pair grapple with each other and their\u00a0lives. Show times are 7:30pm Thursday through Saturday, with 2pm matinees on Sundays.\u00a0Talkbacks with the director and cast will follow the performances on February 2, 3 and 9. A\u00a0panel discussion with area stand-up comics moderated by Isaac Lamb will follow the Sunday,\u00a0February 10 matinee performance. \nBrandon Woolley<\/strong> (Company Manager, Portland Center Stage) makes his Portland directorial\u00a0debut and has cast an exceptional duo of Portland favorites to take on this dark comedy.\u00a0Tim, a burned out standup comedian will be played by Portland\u2019s own comedic actor, Issac<\/strong>\u00a0Lamb<\/strong> (pictured above) of Third Rail Repertory Theatre. Laura Faye Smith<\/strong> (The Receptionist<\/em>,\u00a0Spinning into Butter<\/em>) returns to CoHo as Dee, the disenchanted motel clerk.
\nThe small Minnesota motel comes to life through Scenic Designer Cameron McFee<\/strong> (Animals<\/em>\u00a0and Plants<\/em>, Body Awareness<\/em>). Jennifer Lin<\/strong> (Lime Tree Bower<\/em>) and Em Gusterson<\/strong> set the\u00a0scene as Lighting Designer and Sound Designer respectively. The production team is deftly\u00a0rounded out with Amber Peoples<\/strong> as Stage Manager.
\nCoHo Productions continues its 17th Season: It\u2019s about Identity<\/strong>, still utilizing the unique coproduction\u00a0model that has sustained its efforts to support the artistic community. CoHo provides\u00a0the funding, venue and complete administrative support, allowing our co-producers to focus on\u00a0creating the artistic vision. This combination has produced 23 Drammy awards and 10 world\u00a0premieres, despite the completely unpredictable nature of each season. Located on the edge\u00a0of the vibrant NW District and in the midst of the 10-year Conway redevelopment project, CoHo\u00a0Theatre is an intimate 99-seat black box theatre residing in a former book bindery.<\/p>\n
