Angel grapples with right, wrong, and everything in between in Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis\u2019 frank and ferocious examination of the search for justice in an unjust society.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Stephen Adly Guirgis<\/strong> has been a LAByrinth Company Member since 1994. His plays have been produced on five continents and throughout the United States. His plays include <em>The Little Flower Of East Orange<\/em>, <em>Our Lady Of 121st Street<\/em> (10 best plays of 2003; Lucille Lortel, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Best Play Nominations), <em>Jesus Hopped The \u2018A\u2019 Train<\/em> (Edinburgh Festival Fringe First Award, Laurence Olivier Nomination for London\u2019s Best New Play),&nbsp;<em style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">The Last Days Of Judas Iscariot&nbsp;<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">(10 best, Time Magazine &amp; Entertainment Weekly)<\/span><em style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">,&nbsp;<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">and <\/span><em style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">In Arabia, We\u2019d All Be Kings<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\"> (2007 LA Drama Critics Best Play, Best Writing Award). All five plays were originally directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman. Other plays include <em>The Motherfucker with the Hat<\/em> and the Pulitzer Prize winning <em>Between Riverside and Crazy<\/em>.&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">Television writing credits include <em>NYPD Blue<\/em>, <em>The Sopranos<\/em>, David Milch\u2019s CBS drama <em>Big Apple<\/em>, and Shane Salerno\u2019s NBC series <em>UC: Undercover<\/em>. Stephen was awarded a 2006 PEN\/Laura Pels Award, a 2006 Whiting Award, and a 2004 TCG fellowship.&nbsp; He is the recipient of new play commissions from Manhattan Theatre Club, Center Theater Group, and South Coast Repertory, and is a member of New Dramatists, MCC\u2019s Playwright\u2019s Coalition, New River Dramatists, and The Actor\u2019s Studio Playwright\/Directors Unit. He developed and directed Liza Col\u00f3n-Zayas\u2019 <em>Sistah Supreme<\/em> for Danny Hoch\u2019s Hip Hop Theater Festival, and Marco Greco\u2019s award-winning <em>Behind The Counter With Mussolini<\/em> in New York and Los Angeles. As an actor, he appeared in Guinea Pig Solo, produced by LAByrinth at The Public, and has leading roles in Todd Solondz\u2019s<em> Palindromes<\/em>, Brett C. Leonard\u2019s <em>Jailbait<\/em> opposite Michael Pitt, and Kenneth Lonergan\u2019s<em> Margaret<\/em>. A former Violence Prevention Specialist\/H.I.V. educator, he has facilitated numerous workshops in New York City area prisons, schools, shelters, and hospitals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>ABOUT THE CO-PRODUCERS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.beirutwedding.org\/about-us\">Beirut Wedding World Theatre Project<\/a>&nbsp;<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">is a theatre&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">company dedicated to the creation and nurturing of a multi<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">&#8211;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">cultural world through a&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">multi<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">&#8211;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">faceted society. The name comes from Jay Ullal\u2019s photograph of a&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">Muslim bride&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">and Christian groom tiptoeing through the bombed out streets of Beirut during the&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">Lebanese Civil War. We are about the eclectic nature of human experience, how nothing&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">and nobody exists in a bubble, how we are all profoundly informed and affec<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">ted by&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">interaction, contrast and conflict with other people, cultures, and ideas. Beirut Wedding is&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">about how love and romance exist even in the most volatile of environments.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"pageContainer7\" class=\"page\" data-page-number=\"7\" data-loaded=\"true\">\n<div class=\"textLayer\">\n<div data-canvas-width=\"127.20333333333333\"><strong>Bobby Bermea&nbsp;<\/strong>is the co-artistic director of Beirut Wedding, artistic director of<a href=\"http:\/\/www.baserootstheatre.org\/index.php\"> BaseRoots Theatre Company<\/a> (Beirut Wedding\u2019s sister company), a member of Badass Theatre Company, an artistic associate of Sojourn Theatre, and a member of Actors Equity Association. He is a two-time Drammy-award winning actor who has performed in theatres from New York to Honolulu. In Seattle, Bermea produced the one-man show <em>Saint Heroin,<\/em> and the full length play<em> Mercy,<\/em>&nbsp;each as a critically acclaimed part of the Seattle Fringe Festival. As AD for BaseRoots he produced the full-length original play <em>Rocketman<\/em>, the VOX-style evening of choral&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">poetry <\/span><em style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">My Soul Grown Deep<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\"> and a staged reading of <\/span><em style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">In Darfur<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\"> for Jewish Theatre Collaborative\u2019s satellite programming. Bermea recently directed&nbsp;two critically acclaimed Portland productions, <\/span><em style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\"> (Theatre Vertigo) and <\/span><em style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">Wait Until Dark<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\"> (Northwest Classical Theatre Company<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.0625rem;\">), and appeared onstage in&nbsp;<em>Water by the Spoonfull&nbsp;<\/em>(Profile Theatre) and&nbsp;<em>Between Riverside and Crazy<\/em> (Artists Repertory Theatre).<\/span><\/div>\n<div data-canvas-width=\"662.5416666666667\">\n<p><strong>Jamie M. Rea<\/strong> is the co-artistic director of Beirut Wedding, served for 9 years as resident production manager and primary producer with Jewish Theatre Collaborative, and for 3 years with Enlightened Theatrics. She an artistic associate with Sojourn Theatre, former Managing Director of the Re-Theatre Instrument and the grand vizier for BaseRoots. With BaseRoots, she helped produce both <em>Rocketman<\/em> and <em>My Soul Grown Deep<\/em>. For Circle Theatre Project in collaboration with OAASIS, she helped produce, direct, and then production manage the tour of <em>Telling<\/em>. Jamie also directed and and co-produced <em>The Devil and Billy Markham<\/em> for Action Talks and <em>Songs for a New World<\/em> for Staged! She&nbsp;has served as production, stage &amp; company manager; marketing, development &amp; technical director; office, box office, &amp; house manager; Drammy-finalist, singer, tap dancer, and critically acclaimed actor.
