Discord
WHAT IS IT?
Discord is a free communication app that lets you share voice, video, and text chat with your friends and community. The CoHo Community Discord is a virtual hang-out spot for those who want to be in dialogue about art, ideas, and upcoming events happening in our city.
WHY DO WE NEED IT? WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
Art is important. Conversation around art is important. Discord is important because it creates a virtual space for our community to be in dialogue with each other, allowing artists to share their work with an interested audience of fellow artists and creators, and enabling them to receive feedback in real time. Discord creates an environment that encourages community members to update each other about independent projects, events, and digital releases, extending their marketing reach beyond the limitations of their own social network.
By utilizing Discord, CoHo hopes to create an online digital community of thinkers, creators, and engaged patrons that is active and accessible to anyone, not just CoHo artists, in the hopes that by connecting our community, support and enthusiasm for the arts will blossom and grow.
WHO CAN USE IT?
YOU can! And YOU can, too! Anyone and everyone is invited to join the CoHo Community Discord. All you have to do is sign up and start posting. This online platform features a variety of topical channels, so if you’ve got something artistic to say, we’ve got an online place to talk about it, and members should feel empowered to post and comment to their heart’s content.
OF NOTE: The CoHo Community Discord is suggested for community members 18+. However, younger members should feel free to join us too! Just make sure you ask for your parent’s consent before logging on and creating an account.
HOW DO YOU USE IT?
We love discord because it’s simple, straight-forward, and super easy to use. Use THIS LINK to sign up and join the CoHo Community Discord, then browse through the different channels to see which best fits the topic you want to browse or post about. Use the General Chat for posting just about anything, but utilize the topical channels for a more curated forum for sharing work and ideas. There are also channels for CoHo updates, so lean into the Community Discord and sign up for all the latest news about what’s happening on the CoHo stage!
HOW DO WE KEEP IT COOL?
In order to keep conversation in Discord chats relevant and safe, we ask that members follow the rules (posted in the “RULES” channel) and refrain from harassment or discrimination of any kind. Our moderators are in place to ensure that the CoHo Community Discord remains a safe space for diverse members of all communities, and hate speech or harassment of any kind will result in an immediate ban. Please report any online harassment or derogatory comments to our moderators within Discord, or email CoHo directly at coho@cohoproductions.org.
