Working diligently with co-producer Melody Erfani to ensure we can bring this timeless production to our audiences, CoHo is pleased to announce that BEE روبنز has officially been postponed until January 13 – 24, 2021. January 13th and 14th will be previews, with the show opening on January 15th at 7:30 PM.
It is 1941 in Tehran, Iran. 13-year-old Izat dutifully marries a man 30 years her senior, and soon realizes that bees are no longer the thing she fears most. A true tale of unconventional courage spanning nearly 70 years, from Izat’s granddaughter Melody Erfani and playwright Sean Michael Welch.

ABOUT THE CREATOR/DIRECTOR/CO-PRODUCER
Melody Erfani is co-founder and artistic director of LES Shakespeare Company. She has an MFA in Directing from the Actors Studio Drama School and was a participant of the 2013 Lincoln Center Directors Lab. Prior to that she served an internship with Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London under the direction of Mark Rylance. She has directed productions of Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet and Antigone for LES Shakespeare. Other favorite directing credits include: 97 Orchard Street (Creator/Director with 5D Productions) All An Act (Edinburgh Fringe Festival) and Othello (The Looking Glass Forum), The Sacrifice of Belonging (Creator at Pavement Festival Portland, OR), Our Town, The Importance of Being Earnest (Stagedoor Manor, NY).
Her producing credits include: All An Act (Edinburgh Fringe Festival) 3 annual Arts in the Park, Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet, Antigone and Bee روبنز (LES Shakespeare Company), Around the Block featuring 97 Orchard St. (5D Productions).
ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT
Sean Michael Welch attended the University of Michigan-Flint from 1996 to 2000. While there, he was awarded the 1999 Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival John Cauble Short Play Award for EARL THE VAMPIRE, and received a special commendation from the University of Michigan Board of Regents. The following year he won the 2000 KC/ACTF Region III Ten-Minute Play competition with CHARLESTON’S FINGER. He holds an MFA from the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University.
