CoHo Productions is proud to produce theatre that is intimate, provocative, and exploratory. Serving the Portland community since 1995, our little black box theatre produces a variety of shows each year, stunning audiences with breathtaking storytelling and thought-provoking new work. Proudly featuring our co-production model, CoHo works along side the community to give new and emerging artists a space to produce their latest work.
In the age of a pandemic, Season 25 was one for the books. We kicked off the year with From These Streets I Rise, an inspirational piece of love and compassion honoring the diverse stories and immediate experiences of Portland Street Roots’ vendors impacted by homelessness. We celebrated the holidays with Liza & Liberace, a musical tribute to all glitz, glam, and gold. And we finished off the season with original work from the CoHo Lab Residency Project and CoHo NIGHTLIFE, live-streamed from the CoHo stage, straight to the comfort and safety of your own home.
Each of the three shows in CoHo’s 24th Season celebrates the supremely human cycle of recovery and rebuilding. Devastating, unexpected things, wonderful, magical things, beginnings, endings, circumstances beyond our control, and circumstances of our own making cause daily foundational shifts on a scale from teeny-tiny to catastrophic. Whether caring for an elderly parent, confronting ghosts both real and imagined, ribbon dancing through loneliness, or subverting long-standing tradition, unavoidable foundational shifts force us to change. When faced with them, all we can do is take a breath, assess the damage, begin to recover, eventually rebuild that shaken foundation, and move forward together.
CoHo Productions is proud to produce Season 23, a season unlike anything you’ve ever seen on our stage before! Dark comedy, farce, horror, and drama join together to create a riveting and thought-provoking year of live theatre.
