About the Creative Team
Emily June Newton (Creator and Performer) is an international comedic performer. Originating from Australia, she now resides in Portland, Oregon. She has performed with companies including Terrapin Puppet Theater (AUS), Oregon Children’s Theater (OR, USA), CoHo Productions (OR, USA), The Children’s Art Theater of China (Shanghai, CHN) and Dell’Arte International (CA, USA). Newton’s solo comedic work reflects an ongoing interest in exploring the boundaries between performer and audience and is best known for her characters FRANK (the world’s most entertaining entertainer), Pat McKensie (Australia’s Cultural Ambassador for Australia (self appointed)), and The Rat King (Mike Bennett Studios). Emily holds a MFA in Physical Theater from Dell’Arte International CA, is a member of the CoHo Clown Cohort (PDX) and is a faculty member of the Institute of Contemporary Performance in Portland, Oregon. Deanna Fleysher (Co-writer and Director) is a performance artist, teacher, and director specializing in interactive/immersive comedy. She has toured extensively around the world with her hit show Butt Kapinski, including two smash runs at the Edinburgh Fringe. Her popular workshops Naked Comedy and Drag King Comedy routinely sell out internationally as well. She directs/co-creates solo and duo comedy shows around the world and is currently at work on a new interactive/immersive comedy experience incorporating role play, puzzle games, mystery and audience/performer inversion.
